Oh, for fuck's sake!
It was an evening full of 'for fuck's sake!' I mean, what the fuck, Academy? Are you waiting for Roger Deakins to die to celebrate his work or what?!
And, really: 'Inception' doesn't win best screenplay? I mean, that's a pretty crazy and original screenplay... and speaking of which, I thought '127 Hours' should have won, too! Make a story that happens in one location interesting and moving, shit, that's not easy!
And 'Toy Story 3' winning, what a surprise. I bet you the Academy didn't even watch the other 2 films.
As for foreing films, according to the little extract they show when introducing the films, I can always tell who's gonna win. And I was right again...
A white man looking forlorlny at running black kids. It's moving and sad and so fucking obvious...
OH COME ON! How could Geofrrey Rush, who's the soul and the heart of 'The King's Speech,' which for some reason actaully won best screenplay, not win this?! Bale is good, sure. But again: he probably threatened the Academy. He's a scary dude. When he said: "What a room full of talented people," I thought he was going to say "What a room full of cocksuckers!" But, no he didn't. But you can tell he meant to. And then he says "Great spirit on the set." We know that's true, because we didn't hear any Bale rants about someone being unprofessional... And really, him trying to be humble, you can tell it pains him.
The first real 'fuck yeah!' moment was when Trent Reznor (Trent fucking Reznor!) won for best score! How crazy and cool is that?! It would have fun if for his speech, Trent said: "Yeah, thanks. To celebrate, I want to sing you a song. It's called 'March of the Pigs... Ready?'
And then, well, whenever Rick Baker wins, that's always cool, too!
Also, Randy Newman's gotta stop making songs. It's always the same song anyway, so what the hell?! But he's a funny guy and he's right: really, why only 4 songs?!
Okay, good for Hooper, best director. Yeah. Winning over the Coens and Fincher. Yeah. Whatever. What-the-fuck-ever. Never mind the fact that Geoffrey Rush made the film! By the way, how can Chris Nolan NOT be nominated? What's up with that?!
I guess Portman deserved it, althought she just makes her 'I'm so fragile' face for most of the film. But at least she didn't mention Israel in her speech, so that's cool. As for Firth, well... again, good for him, but there was no suspense whatsoever, we all knew he was gonna win. Because he plays someone WITH A DISABILITY! And, oh, what a surprise, it won Best Film, too. What a surprise, whoop dee doo.
Don't get me wrong, it is a good film, but... but... 'Inception' was original, 'True Grit' was great and 'Black Swan' was awesome. 'The King's Speech' is just good.
